Pediatric Care and Well-Child Visits in Troy, MI
As a parent, your child's health is always on your mind. Whether it is a newborn's first checkup, a stubborn cough that will not go away, or a kindergarten vaccine record that needs updating, you want a doctor who knows your family and actually listens. Phase Medical Group is a family medicine practice, which means we can be that doctor for every member of your household - from the new baby to the grandparents.
Dr. Alex Christofis is a board-certified family medicine physician who cares for patients at every stage of life, including children. That includes well-child visits, developmental monitoring, immunizations following CDC and AAP guidelines, and sick visits when illness or injury comes up. We work to make every visit comfortable for the child and the parent bringing them in.
Well-Child Visits and Developmental Checkups
Routine well-child visits are one of the most important things you can do for your child's long-term health. These appointments let us track growth, monitor developmental milestones, catch concerns early, and keep immunizations up to date.
At each well-child visit we review height, weight, and BMI, assess age-appropriate developmental and behavioral milestones, perform a physical exam, update vaccinations, screen for vision and hearing concerns, and answer your questions about nutrition, sleep, activity, and school.
We follow the well-child schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. If lab work is needed, we can coordinate it. Lab work is billed separately through your insurance.
Childhood Vaccinations
We follow the childhood immunization schedule published by the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Vaccines are one of the most effective tools we have for keeping children healthy, and staying current protects your child and the broader community.
Questions about which vaccines your child needs, what to expect after a shot, or how to catch up on missed immunizations? We are happy to walk you through it without pressure.
Common Pediatric Concerns We Treat
Children get sick. It is part of growing up and it rarely happens at a convenient time. When your child is not feeling well, we will evaluate what is going on and get them the care they need - often the same day.
Ear infections
One of the most common reasons parents bring young children in for a sick visit. We examine the ears, determine whether an infection is present, and discuss the best course of treatment - which is often simpler than parents expect.
Rashes and skin conditions
Eczema, hives, mystery rashes. We assess rashes in the context of your child's full picture to identify what is going on and how to treat it.
Allergies
Seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, and allergic reactions can all affect a child's daily life. We evaluate symptoms, recommend management strategies, and coordinate referrals to an allergist when needed.
Asthma and breathing concerns
Asthma is one of the most common chronic conditions in children. We work with families on triggers, inhaler technique, and a clear action plan for flare-ups. Learn more about our approach to asthma management.
Stomach and digestive issues
Stomachaches, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea come up often. We help identify the cause and provide guidance on treatment and dietary adjustments.
Colds, flu, and respiratory illnesses
Upper respiratory infections, strep throat, influenza, and similar illnesses are routine childhood fare. We evaluate symptoms, test when appropriate, and advise on the right treatment. Most of these can be handled through a same-day appointment.

What to Expect at Your Child's Visit
Every visit should feel straightforward and unhurried. Your physician takes the time to review your child's health history, address your concerns, perform an appropriate exam, and explain recommendations in plain language.
Bring a list of questions. If your child is old enough, we like to speak directly with them when appropriate - it helps them feel involved and more comfortable with their own care.
Insurance and Cost
Phase Medical Group accepts most major insurance plans. Well-child visits are typically covered as preventive care. Lab work ordered during a visit is billed separately through your insurance. Questions on cost or coverage? Call us at 248-847-0626.
