Sick Visits and Same-Day Appointments in Troy, MI

When you are sick, waiting three days for an appointment is not care. It is frustration. At Phase Medical Group in Troy, MI, we hold same-day slots every day so you can be seen when you actually need it, by a physician who already knows your history.

Dr. Alex Christofis is a board-certified family medicine physician. That means continuity, not a rotating lineup of urgent care providers who have never met you before. When you come in for a sick visit, your physician has your full chart, your medications, and your history in front of them.

What Is a Sick Visit?

A sick visit is a focused appointment for an acute concern - a new or sudden issue that needs attention. Unlike an annual physical, a sick visit is built around evaluating your current symptoms, making a diagnosis, and starting treatment.

Phase Medical Group is a family medicine practice, not an urgent care or emergency room. That is a feature, not a bug. You get continuity of care from a physician who knows your full health picture.

Common Conditions We Treat

Cold and flu

Runny nose, body aches, fatigue, fever, and congestion. Some patients benefit from antiviral treatment or evaluation to rule out complications like pneumonia or a sinus infection.

Strep throat

Severe throat pain, difficulty swallowing, swollen lymph nodes, sometimes fever. A rapid strep test during your visit confirms the diagnosis and treatment starts the same day.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Painful urination, urgency, pelvic pressure, cloudy urine. In-office urinalysis confirms the diagnosis and treatment can start right away. Learn more about our UTI treatment. Lab work is billed separately from your office visit.

Ear infections

Ear pain, pressure, reduced hearing, and sometimes fever. Adults and children. Prompt treatment relieves pain and prevents complications.

Minor injuries

Sprains, strains, minor cuts, and bruising can often be addressed during a sick visit. For lacerations or wound care, see our minor procedures page.

Skin issues

Rashes, hives, insect bites, contact dermatitis, cellulitis, and other acute skin concerns.

Gastrointestinal issues

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach cramping from a virus, food poisoning, or bacterial infection. Your physician evaluates your symptoms, assesses for dehydration, and provides treatment.

When to Come In vs. When to Go to the ER

Phase Medical Group is the right choice for acute illnesses and minor injuries that are uncomfortable but not life-threatening. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Signs of stroke (sudden numbness, confusion, slurred speech)
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis
  • Uncontrolled bleeding or serious trauma

If you are not sure whether your symptoms need emergency care, call our office at 248-847-0626. We will help you figure out the right next step.

How Same-Day Appointments Work

Call our office at 248-847-0626 as early in the day as possible. Same-day slots are limited and fill on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also request an appointment through our patient portal.

Same-day visits are available to established and new patients. If you are new, let us know when you call so we can prepare for your visit.

What to Bring

  • A valid photo ID
  • Your insurance card
  • A list of current medications, including dosages
  • Information about any known allergies
  • Your pharmacy name and location

Insurance and Cost

Phase Medical Group accepts most major insurance plans. Your copay depends on your plan. Any lab work ordered during a sick visit is billed separately through your insurance. Call 248-847-0626 to verify that we accept your plan.
